Hello,

Several years ago we arranged for an automatic cloud backup system on your computer called Crashplan (since renamed to Code42). This system is still in effect, but we recently learned that Apple's security settings require additional permission be granted on newer MacOS systems in order to complete a full backup.

Permission must be manually enabled in System Preferences, and Code42 restarted, to allow access to back up to your entire disk. Please follow the instructions below to adjust these settings.

Let us know if you have any trouble at all or if you would like to meet to make the change together.

Enabling full disk access for a full back up in Code42 (CrashPlan)

  1. Select the Apple Menu > System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Privacy tab
  2. Select Full Disk Access in the left-hand column
This displays your Full Disk Access settings.

*You may need to click the lock at the bottom-left to unlock your settings.

  3. Check the box next to Code42 in the list of apps.
A popup window will alert you that Code42 will not have full disk access until it is quit and restarted.

  4. Some versions of MacOS may not prompt you with this popup. In those instances, please restart your computer.
  5. Select Quit & Reopen.
Code 42 will quit. The app may open automatically or you can open it from your applications folder.
